The start of a new year will often spark a new focus on fitness. Even more so if like us, you enjoy to a treat of two over the festive period.
So if you’re enjoying exercising more at the moment, it might be a good idea to stock up your fridge and freezer with some snacks perfect for aiding the recovery of muscles.
High protein foods are perfect for assisting muscle recovery and better yet, they often fill you up for longer.
So here are some of our favourite high-protein snacks that are ideal for keeping around the kitchen in your home.
Turkey Rolls
Turkey is a great meat to keep in the fridge as it’s versatile for using wraps and sandwiches, low in fat and high in protein. Why not try this FreshMAG recipe with avocado, yum!
Boiled Eggs
These are always great to keep in the fridge for those quick post or pre-workout snacks. Pop them in your fridge within two hours of cooking and these protein powerhouses will fuel your workouts for about a week.
Celery Dipped In Peanut Butter
A throwback to many people’s childhood, this quick healthy snack is easy to make. Just throw one spoonful of peanut butter on to the end of a stick of celery and hey presto!
Greek Yogurt
Greek Yogurt is a great high protein snack and boasts plenty of creative uses. Like adding to smoothies, making overnight oats or enjoying with granola. Not only is it high in protein, but it’s also high in calcium which is crucial for keeping your bones healthy! Once opened its fridge life is about 7 to 10 days.
Tuna Niçoise protein pot
We’ll be honest, boiled eggs can get a tad tedious! So by switching things up occasionally, you will find yourself more motivated to stick to the healthy options in your fridge! Why not make Tuna Niçoise protein pots? Slice one tomato and one egg into wedges, throw in around 80g of green beans (can be efficiently steamed above the same pan you’re boiling the eggs with) and 120g of tuna. These powerful pots of protein will keep for a couple of days in your fridge.
